John Hetlage, web infrastructure consultant

About Me

I'm a full-stack developer and web infrastructure consultant focused on practical implementation for small businesses and agencies. I work across the visible parts of a website and the backend systems that keep it running: front-end fixes, WordPress and CMS customization, forms, integrations, APIs, databases, server configuration, analytics setup, deployment support, and getting AI-generated prototypes into production.

I take a systems-based approach to every engagement. Rather than applying surface-level patches, I look at how the pieces connect and implement changes that are durable and easy to maintain.

I've worked with local service businesses, agencies, and e-commerce operations. The problems vary, but the pattern is consistent: most issues are solvable with focused attention and a clear understanding of what's actually happening.

How I Work

Systems Thinking

I trace problems to their root rather than patching symptoms. Whether it's a CMS conflict, a broken integration, or a deployment issue, understanding the full picture leads to a better fix.

Transparency

Every change is documented. Every recommendation comes with clear reasoning. You always know what I did, why I did it, and how to verify it.

Practical Over Trendy

No frameworks-of-the-week. No unnecessary rewrites. I recommend what actually solves the problem with the least disruption to your business.

Background

My professional background is rooted in full-stack web development, with a strong focus on reliability, maintainability, and practical troubleshooting. That experience is useful when a visible website issue turns out to involve backend servers, databases, configuration, integrations, deployment, tracking, APIs, or data flow.

I work across the full stack: WordPress and CMS customization, front-end fixes, backend server work, database troubleshooting, forms and workflow integrations, analytics and tracking setup, deployment and environment configuration, and AI-generated prototype cleanup.

Most clients don't need a full dev agency. They need someone who can understand the problem, make the right fix, document the change, and leave the site easier to maintain.
